Privacy Policy

Effective date: 5 October 2026

This policy explains which data the Mellie Cam app for LG webOS TV and the website melliecam.melvinoz.com process, and why. Short version: your camera video and recorder passwords never leave your home network. We only process what is needed to run the free trial and the license.

1. Who we are

Mellie Cam is made by MelvinOz, the Netherlands (“we”, “us”). We are the controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: info@melvinoz.com.

2. Data that stays on your TV

The app stores the following only on your TV: the address of your Reolink recorder or camera, the username, your settings (language, quality, previews), whether you accepted the terms, and — only if you enable “Remember password” — the recorder password, encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key bound to your TV. Live video and preview images travel directly from your recorder to your TV over your local network. We never receive them.

You can delete this data at any time via Settings → Recorder → “Forget recorder”, Settings → About → “Reset app”, or by uninstalling the app.

3. Data processed by our license service

To provide the 3-day trial and the lifetime license, the app contacts our license service at melliecam.melvinoz.com. It sends:

a device identifier derived from the LG device ID of your TV (used as the license key for that TV);
the app version, the platform (“webos”) and the app language;
your IP address, as part of every internet connection.

We store the device identifier, the version and language last used, first-seen and last-seen dates, the start and end of the trial, and the license and purchase status. IP addresses are only used for security and rate limiting and are kept in server logs for at most 14 days.

Legal basis: performance of the contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the trial (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe on a page you open on your phone. Depending on your country, Stripe may act as the seller (merchant of record) of the license. Stripe processes your payment details, e-mail address and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive only the payment status, amount, currency and Stripe reference numbers — never your full card details. Payment records are kept for 7 years because Dutch tax law requires it.

5. Website

melliecam.melvinoz.com uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. A functional session cookie remembers the language you choose. Our web server logs requests (including IP addresses) for security purposes and deletes these logs within 14 days.

6. Retention

Devices without a purchase are deleted after 24 months without contact.
Devices with a license are kept as long as the license exists, so it keeps working.
Payment records are kept for 7 years (legal obligation).

7. Who else processes data

We do not sell or share personal data for marketing. We use these processors: Hetzner Online GmbH (hosting, data centre in Finland, EU) and Stripe (payments). Stripe may transfer data outside the EEA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and the right to data portability. E-mail info@melvinoz.com and mention the Device ID shown in the app under Settings → About. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your country.

9. Security

All communication with the license service uses HTTPS. Access to the license database is restricted to us. The device identifier is never written to logs in readable form.

10. Children

Mellie Cam is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always available at melliecam.melvinoz.com/privacy. Significant changes are announced in the app.
